First Round: Introduction to the Topic

Round 1 is an online stage in MCQ (multiple choice questions) format, designed to assess basic digital and media literacy. It helps participants get acquainted with key artificial intelligence concepts through logical tasks and clear examples.

This is a mass, accessible, and inclusive entry into the AI topic. Participation is open to all students, regardless of prior experience in computer science or artificial intelligence.

The basic cycle covers the main ideas and practices of using AI in an online testing format. During the test, participants are allowed to use open sources and modern digital tools, including AI services.

The first round focuses on:

  • basic concepts of artificial intelligence
  • logic and argumentation
  • pattern recognition theory
  • history of AI development
  • information search and processing
  • ethics and responsible use of AI

Participating in the first round gives you the opportunity to explore the topic at your own pace and gradually develop an understanding of how modern AI technologies work.

Path to the International Level

The national selection for the AI Olympiad consists of several stages and gradually increases in difficulty.

  • The second round focuses on logic, data analysis, and machine learning principles.
  • The third stage involves working with practical AI tasks, building models, and finding solutions.
  • The final round includes training, mentoring, and selection for the Ukrainian National Team.

This path opens the opportunity to represent Ukraine at the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI), which takes place at the global level, including in Abu Dhabi.

Who Can Participate

Upper secondary school students and vocational pre-higher education students aged 14 to 20 inclusive are invited to participate.

The Olympiad is held online in a bilingual format: Ukrainian and English, and is accessible to participants from all over Ukraine, except for temporarily occupied territories.

Why You Should Join

The National AI Olympiad aims to identify and support talented youth, develop digital literacy, and form the Ukrainian National Team for participation in IOAI. It aligns with the Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Ukraine and the principles of equal access to education.

The first round starts on December 17.

Participation is open to everyone and is the first step toward an international educational journey.

Participants with the highest test scores advance to the next round according to the established ranking.
